Doha, Drinks, Qatar, Happy Hour

The Doha skyline is ever changing and over the last 6 years some of the finest rooftops have risen from the desert. From there being only a few places to enjoy the views of West Bay and the Pearl, here at Views from Altitude we take a look at the very best of Doha. Here you will find all the information from dress code, opening times and the best nights to enjoy the upcoming pleasant climate.

Pure @ Double Tree Hilton

A great rooftop bar in the heart of Old Town, Doha. This amazing chic bar at the top of the DoubleTree has impressive views of the Corniche and West Bay. Open everyday and with a live DJ every night from 2130, it sure is the best place to start or end the night. Pure offers some of the best nights of the week, with ladies night on Sundays (3 complimentary drinks for ladies) and red Fridays (ladies in red get to enjoy complimentary drinks from 2000-0000).

The bar has ‘Happy Hour’ everyday from 1800-2000 and with Saturdays being the only day that it lasts the entire night, this has to be the best place where you get the most for your Riyal! If you happen to be a teacher, banker, or airline or hotel staff then long may your night continue, as after Happy Hour you benefit from 30% off on drinks the entire night. So if you are new to Doha or someone who just never knew about Pure, then I would say head on over and enjoy a great night.

If you are choosing to visit Pure on a weekday, my suggestion would be to go later in the evening as it can be pretty quiet before that. As the bar is a hotspot for certain professions, my guess would be that these individuals normally opt for a late night drink or prefer to make Pure their post-dinner drink spot. The bar area is pretty segregated in parts and lacks decorative furniture, so it relies heavily on lighting to make it appealing. If you are looking for an aesthetically pleasing rooftop I would suggest scrolling down.

Nobu @ Four Seasons

Who would have thought that the world’s largest dedicated Nobu will not only cater to every sushi lover’s dream but also to those who love a great view! Immersed into the Arabian Gulf, the bar has its own identity. Built on its very own pod out at sea, it has a total of three floors which houses a dining area and two-storey bar. The outdoor bar spirals to the top of the building, giving you a great view of the Gulf and the country’s amazing architecture, where the skyscrapers and lights provide you with a breathtaking backdrop.

The best night at Nobu has to be Monday, especially for the ladies of Doha, as they get to enjoy amazing drinks and snacks at Happy Hour prices the entire night. In addition, with Happy Hour from 1800-2000 everyone gets to enjoy lychee martinis and kanpai at a great price.

Like most places in Doha, it can be a slow burner in terms of the crowd or actual party. However, you can still enjoy the atmosphere without it being full, perfect for catching up with friends on the rooftop. Nobu is one of my favourite places just to hang out, I love the warmth of the decor and the fact that you feel wrapped around the marina and the city. Being close to the skyline allows the setting to be intimate, making it an ideal spot for couples or groups of friends. So don’t be alarmed when on most nights everyone has left you after Happy Hour has ended, it just allows the actual rooftop lover gets to enjoy the view from altitude.
